Hi everyone!
This week has been absolutely crazy here in Holland as we celebrated Kingsday! As bars and restaurants turned their interiors and exteriors orange, I was looking forward to one of the traditional ways to spend my Kingsday – the vrijmarkt – the citywide flea market. I love it when all the streets are filled with second-hand goods and I go strolling across the different market stalls, buying some drinks and treats here and there. Why this is such a big thing? Well, normally you’re not allowed to sell your merchandise on the streets without a permit and this is the only day the Dutch government lifts the restriction for everyone and there’s no better place to pick up a bargain than at the citywide vrijmarkt! Unfortunately, this year the weather forecast was really bad. Even though the sun showed up to brighten up our day, there were almost no flea markets on the streets and left me as a bargain hunter to return home with empty hands.
Personally, when it comes to home decor, I love to invest in a couple timeless pieces but mostly I decorate around them with flea finds and inexpensive objects. Mainly because it’s easy to change out and switch it up without feeling too guilty, soo you can imagine I was really disappointed not to find some vintage gems this year. Next year better luck I guess!
Here are my faves this week, have a great weekend! X
Love the cactus / midcentury modern credenza combo!
